Over the past few years Digital Technologies have increasingly been introduced to facilitate the
interpretation of heritage and provide a more comprehensive and/or personalised experience that
goes beyond looking at an artefact on a shelf with just its name underneath it. This study unit will
introduce the latest digital technologies such as 2D scanning, 3D visualisation, Augmented and
Virtual Reality, touchscreens, mobile devices, gamification and Internet used in heritage
interpretation, discuss their impact and propose new ways in which such technologies have
enhanced the interpretation and curation of both tangible and intangible heritage.
